It's either going to be spark firing/timing or if valve timing is off it could cause the engine to backfire, not sure if that would cause the stutter you feel though.

B18 will be lighter, H22 will put out more HP/TQ as an NA motor. If you're going to turbo it, I would personally prefer the B18 just to save some weight, but I'm kind of a weight weenie when it comes to things like that. At most you'll be saving like 30 lbs.
