How do you find out year of your H22?

it's stamped on the head. there are 2 or 3 "dials" stamped in and a circle that says the year in the middle of the head. check that and that was the year it was manufactured.

    97-01 Jackson Racing Supercharger on a 96 H22

it's been done before. by one person that i know of. and he took a sledge hammer to his firewall for an hour or two.

    What is the point?

thats what the h23vtec build essentially does. but it's never reliable(1 in every 50) and it doesn't make as much power.(mainly because nobody really goes all out on them). unfortunately the import aftermarket that we have has overlooked h series motors for the longest time and are just now...

    H22 type S

searching............asking around........etc. and those are prices anyone could get. my wholesale price=rediculous. :)

    H22 type S

manifold/tb=250bucks mild p&p=250 type s cams=550 type s pistons(with rings)=350 brand new quaife lsd=700 2100 bucks. for a far superior setup. i have a better flowing head and i have better traction(quaife lsd). and thats going after a setup much like the type s stock. i could turn that...

    probably a dumb question

have you ever taken an auto h23 tranny to 8k rpms? :D trust me. they don't last very long.

    What is the point?

basically it's like "stroking" your h22. more displacement etc etc. in the idealists mind. it combines the best of both worlds. the early torque produced from the h23 and the highend power of the h22. when built right. it is very powerful. when built wrong. cranks snap and rod bearings spin...

    H22 type S

so basically the (roughly) 2500 dollar difference between the h22a and the type s. you are saying that you can't do any better? lets look at the main differences here. cams pistons Intake manifold throttle body lsd port and polish. yeah i'd make more power with a good ol jdm h22a.

    probably a dumb question

that tranny would grenade itself in less than 3k miles.

    H22a4

atts sucks period. if you expect to boost. get a base model 5th gen. and if you try to swap the h22a4 with the atts unit. it will not work..(well without a lot of custom fabbing) IMO i'd just get an lsd tranny.
  14. J

    H22 type S

all type s's were lsd. it was a standard factory unit. if you get a motor without the lsd. then you got screwed because that is the only tranny used with the type s.

    H22 with H23 Header

    flanges are different.
  16. J

    H22 type S

the only real difference internally is the pistons really. i've heard rumors of the rods being a little beefier but not much.
  17. J

    H22 type S

    wrong. they are not forged.

    Phantom Grip

it rocks for an lsd. it rocks for drag launches. then you realize a month later. you just busted your differential because of a poorly made lsd. go with quaife

Basic Prelude & Prelude SH headers?

the sh and base header designs are different. the sh is a larger header as far as the merge collector goes because it has to clear the crossmember and the atts unit. so yes an sh header will fit ont he base. but if it were me. i'd rather have the header designed for my car.

    stock stroker kit??

save the grief and just use the h23 block. depending on certain years the main bearing int he h22 block is too large and won't accept the h23 crank.
