So in my reading i have found that a 0 carb diet is the way to go to burn fat. I started in Mid January at a smooth weight of 273 :( Being 6'4'' i tried to hide it well. But when my love handles were showing through a thick sweater i started my work out plan. I have been on it for alittle over 2 months. Limiting my the bad choices in foods and i am a slightly "toned" 242. So overall weight loss is a good amount, but i want to start dropping the fat. I am gaining alot of muscle mass but i know i have alot more to lose.

So is a 0 carb diet the way to go? Any exoierences in it? What are some suggested substitutes for this so i can still eat a sandwhich? Would you suggest this type of diet, or should i continue my no fast food, soda, greasy fried foods and sweets "diet"?

ugh, the atkin's diet is horrible. you lose a lot of water weight though. but you gain all the weight back if you stop the diet. it's not a healthy diet. cutting carbs will also cut your energy. you need to have some carbs to be healthy.

the best way is to watch your caloric intake. god this could thread go on for days.

it seems like you have a good handle on the diet part. diets are hard to maintain. in, fruit isn't that healthy. it has a high glycemic index. sugar produces insulin and insulin stores fat.

i don't know your whole diet but i'll help where i can.

where else do you need help at?

a client just visited my office thats been on a protein only diet for 1.5 years and lost about 44 pounds

    weight is simple
if you eat less than you use during the day your body takes it from your stored resources
if you eat more than you use your body stores it

cardio = using lots of energy, which is measured as calories
lots of cardio = burning off the fat

0 carb diets are okay but your brain needs carbs to function.

    My advice:
45min-hr of cardio 4X/wk (you need to go over a half hour before it become anerobic)
    lift weights
limit carbs to complex multigrain, more fiber the better (Organic multigrain bread is great). Remember Carbs-Fiber=Net Carbs, that's what actually matters to your body.
drink a gallon of water a day

if you want some supplement idea Niacin and Iodine are good for less fat rentention and higher metabolic rates. But honestly for most people it's just a waste of cash

My workout is pretty fine tuned. I have almost doubled my bench in 2 months. From 135 to about 235. My biceps started at 15 lbs concentration curls to about 55-60 depending on the day. So i am gaining alot of muscle, bu ti have a big frame. I understand i am gaing weight from muscle but i need to cut some out. Muscles are not everything, but it does help, coming from nothing to something. I do about 30 minutes on each muscle, 30 in abs and 30 in cardio. Eat "healthier" and try my best. I just need a good fat cutting tool.

edit- i eat about 220-240g of protein a day. I try to eat my weight in protein grams vs. pounds. It is hard sometimes but i get my fill in.

well, if you have a good workout, then you need to focus more on your diet. start counting calories as much as possible. i mean, down to each snack you have. focus on getting smaller meals throughout the day.

it seems like you are on the right track, but you are like me. you want results over night. it just takes time.

don't worry about the number on the scale, up the cardio but don't stop building muscle mass because you want the weight to drop
and you need to eat to build mass, just make sure you're using at least what you put in your mouth

I do 8 different work outs, 4 sets on each muscle with 8-12 reps each. I dont do a pyramid workout, i usually go 12, 10, 8. And using between 2-3 minutes resting in between. Form I got, my forn never changes, i get in the routine of keeping it smooth and maintain a consistent motion. And if the weight it too heavy, i would lower the weight and finish my reps. So lets say i go to bench... 185 and cant get it. I move to 175 to finish out a good set. I usually use the smith machine while lifting heavier weights, so i keep my good form. Im not saying doing 300 lbs on that machine is great, i am not all about maxing out. I get good reps while increasing weight.

I know a trainer at the gym personally, i get certain hints from him. But mostly it is a way to get variations on the workouts i do. So that my body doesnt get used to the same machine all the time. Like one week flat bench and one week dumbbell bench. I dont take offense to anything you say. It is your insight, and i did type this for help. I am just shocked i stuck with it for this long, and have no desire to quit till i see the results i want.

I have been thinking B, we need a fitness section in the members lounge. epoc is cool, but not enough member support to get an answer or not even an answer, but a second opinion.

Honest question though.... what was helping you stay so thin? Exercise, mich ultra, cardio? Not to say I want to be that weight or drop it fast. I just need some more pointers. You also need to get back into it... you lazy peice of... :crap:

your workout routine is fine. it seems like you have your diet on track. now all you need is to just be patient. or you could add supplements.

i take hydroxycut hardcore and it has helped me a lot.

like i said though, you really want to lose weight, cut down to about 1500-2000 calories a day and keep your workout. at your weight you'll lose 3-5 pounds a week.
