hey i was wondering if the gears in the D17 motor's trannys would be compatible with the D16 motor's trannys since the 1.7's 3rd 4th and 5th gear ratios are a lot shorter than the 1.6's
 
Not sure but maybe there might be some specs in a service manual you could compare to see if various tranny parts are at least the same size...??

Transmissions.... not my forte. :D
