Just wondering, would $1mil in pennies actually be worth more than $1mil?

It would depend on the current price of zinc (you'd think copper, but pennies are only copper coated zinc nowadays).

1864 to 1942 3.11 g 19 mm 95.0% Copper and 5.0% Zinc & Tin (bronze mix)

1943 2.70 g 19 mm Steel with Zinc coating

1944 to 1946 3.11 g 19 mm 95.0% Copper and 5.0% Zinc & Tin (bronze mix)
but made from cartridge casings and slightly off color

1947-1962 3.11 g 19 mm 95.0% Copper and 5.0% Zinc & Tin (bronze mix)

1963-1982 3.11 g 19 mm 95.0% Cu and 5.0% Zinc

1983-2002 2.50 g 19 mm 97.5% Zinc and 2.5% Copper (20% lighter)

there's more to making a penny than just the metal in it.

you need to pay for the engravers, the machinery, the people making them, all the rolls, the power to run them, etc etc.

I heard that they wanted to do away with all together. How weird would that be?

ya cause I heard that it costs 1.2 million to make 1 million pennies and because of that they were thinking of just doing away with it.

i love how there is so much money it actually has to be moved on pallets. PALLETS people. how many of us had more than a stack from selling a car or something?

I asked a potential buyer to pay for my house in 1 dollar bills... and he promptly did the math and figured out that it would all fit in a large briefcase. Car sale = not too large. :D
