Probably a dumb question, but why are Skylines so rare in the U.S.?

Well they never produced them in the US, so to bring one here, you have to go through a bunch of complicated registration procedures...

That and they cant pass emissions, and it costs like 3000 plus the price of the car to get any car imported over here.

Ya its same over here in canada, if its a jdm car it has to be i think 93 or older to even be eligible for registration, i knew a guy here in town who had a 92 R32 GTS, but had to sell it cause his fuel pump was going to cost him $2000.

Now thats a little bit of rediculous right there.

Why the stipulation of 93 or older? Emissions reasons?

Has to be, but you think it would be the newer the car the better because of tighter emission regulations. Thats another thing I never really thought about, parts. Its not like you can go to Autozone and get what you need.

There's an awesome NSX that cruises my town. It's red, carbon fiber fiber hood, carbon fiber accents in the interior, real Works wheels...pure sex...

the other issues with the skyline include DOT parts. Like gauges in Km rather than Mi. No seatbelt warning light, no SRS lights...etc. Some of the lights also have Japanese characters on them which need to be replaced before the car will pass inspection.

Also, a car must be crash tested in the united states before it can be registered in the united states. Motorex claimed to have done these crash tests, but in reality, they only did them on the R32...but they imported the R33 and R34 as well. Thats one of the main reasons there arent a lot of them comming into the united states. (I heard there is a company in florida that can do it legally now, but im not completely sure on that.)

Emissions is only part of the reason. Thats like saying the civil war started over slavery.
