Does anyone know how to bench start a Ford Flathead V8?

I'm just looking to try and get spark out of the thing.
I believe it was pulled from a 1948 F-100 truck.
I would imagine its a 6v system.
The yard hooked it up to a 12v jumper box to turn it over, so I don't know if something might be fried in the distributor or coil.

Any advice?
Or a good flathead forum?

Thanks

Never messed with one, but I think theyre bad ass lol. Good luck, and let us know what it takes to get it goin.

yea i love those things, they have the coolest sound, and only make like 65 hp from a v8 lol

anywhere from 60ish to a little over 100, the mercury i think made about 110 with a wopping 200 ft lbs of torque

Looks like I will be trying +12v from battery to block, -12v to starter.
Then +6v from 6v battery charger and -6v to coil wire.
This might do the trick.
Or I may bolt the 6v generator back to the block as it should provide enough -6v juice to fire off the coil at cranking speeds, from what I have read.
