Ok i'm new here and my girlfriend has a 1997 Civic DX. Its got the SOHC 1.6 liter D16 I think. I have heard of swapping the VTEC heads off the EX but not sure how to. I also want to know what else I can swap onto this motor since its in great running condition. So let me know if I can convert it over to DOHC or whatever and VTEC of course.

no you can not put a DOHC head on that engine
yes you can put the SOHC VTEC head on there
this is called a "mini-me"
do a search it has been covered several times and there is plenty of information on it
another option would be to swap out the engine all together for a B series
