Hey guys, thanks again for all the replies and help!!! I was just wondering if anyone knew where to get an engine wiring harness from a 99-00 civic EX or SI??? Locally, no one has anything, and I doubt they could remove it properly anyways. The dealer wants around $450 my cost, where down from $575 retail, is still kinda steep. All swaps I have received in the past have butchered harnesses. Do any of you know of a place to get an intact harness asap??? I may put this up as its own post too. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks again...matto

its a honda specialist place in New Jersey or somethin like that...

i called them when i was lookin for an Si harness.

they found one, but I had already ordered a DX harness that i was gonna hack.

they can find you one for around $200 bucks or so, although it may take them a few days.

shipping is cheap, too.

also, if they cant find one, they'll get you in touch with someone who can.

I'll check my source out and see if they have nething. I'll let you know asap.

Thanks again guys. I found one this afternoon!!! I found a couple actually. For all you guys looking for 99 Si wiring harness, listen up...

There is one on eBay right now with 2 days to go on the auction. Bid is at $75 now NR. Just search "Honda Wiring Harness" and you will see it.

There is also one at a place in Ohio, ActionPlace or something like that. Talk to Thomas and the Si harness IN STOCK is $200. 1-800-351-0084 is the #

The one I found today is from a 2000 EX. I picked it up for $150 and it was only about 30 minutes away so I did not have to wait for shipping. Some strange things about this harness though. It still has that 8-pin symmetrical rectangular plug for the distributor. Maybe I misunderstood you guys, but I thought you were saying the OBDII 99+ distributors were 9 wires in a 10-pin connector with the black and blue wires bigger than the others??!! Oh well, it's in there now. The car tries to catch now when cranking. Sometimes it will run a tad, but it will not receive any amount of throttle. Even when trying to get it to stabilize and run, varying the the TPS voltage does nothing. It feels like timing, but mechanically, it is spot on. I guess I will pull some CEL's tomorrow and see where to start. It is possible to check codes at home w/o obd2 equipment right??? Just to check again, EX harness is fine right? Any more suggestions or possibilities would be appreciated, eventhough I know there is only so much you can diagnose online. Thanks again guys...matto

Thanks for those links civicious. That is kinda what I did with my CX harness cut did not know were to pin wires at the ecu. There is some very useful pin info though and I'm sure I will using that. Thanks again...matto

no prob...

ex harness is good...

you gotta get a li'l computer-reader thingie to read the obd2 codes.

hmmm...

not sure about that one

i'd guess that you'd read the CEL just like you would in an obd1 car.

hey, first off alot of the overseas honda motors after 1995 dont have a oil pressure switch on the vtec selinoid. i have done many swaps including my own wich dont have it. i have a 96 dx hb with a b18c4 and an obd1 p28ecu. all you will need to do is get a vtec controller, an rpm activated switch from msd,or any vtec selinoid with the switch. and you can pull codes the same way with your obd2-1 . if anybody has any more quest shoot me an e-mail.

um.....

his motor is a pre-95....after 95 it was obd2...

you sure about them not having oil pressure sensors? vtec is activated by oil pressure.....

how was vtec activated on STOCK post-96 JDM motors without an oil pressure sensor?

i think know what it is.

your car doesn't have a tach, does it?

the 9th wire is a solid light blue wire.

that's the tach wire.

i believe that's it. i just got a 99-00 DX harness that im going to use on my swap, and it doesnt have that wire. also, do you only have 2 ECU plugs???? my harness only has 2 ecu plugs...dont knwo whats up with that.

Yep, my car has no tach, but the EX that the harness came from probably did. My harnesses only have 2 ecu pins too. The third is inside along with the other half of the green plug connection. I finall got the car running today, but the timing has to be wrapped all the way towards the firewall for it to run. Even then, it is shit in lower Rpms when free revving, and seems to lose the restriction up high. Definitely feels like a timing issue, but I double checked the cam, crank, and plug wires for spec. I am just wondering if the timing IS right. When the distributor lines up at the #1 cyl, and the cam gears are UP and level, the crank is at the WHITE mark. Is this right, or should the crank pointer be on the 3 reds????? Man this thing is pissing me off. By far THE worst swap I have ever done!!! There is just too many variables. Oh, for future reference, OBDII B16a's DO NOT have either the crank angle sensor nor do they come with the VTEC Pressure switch. So far I have been trying to mix USDM obd2 car and harness with a JDM obd2 motor and how knows what kind of OBDI P30 ecu. Oh yeah, the distributor plugs for a 99Si and 99-00 CX< DX< EX are diffent. Eventhough the USDM Si Dizzys have the same wires, the plugs are diff from the other OBDIIs. What else could affect the timing??!!?? Any other sensors(map, purge, etc)???? It is definitely rnning rich to, but I think it is b/c of the timing issue. Any help would rule!!! Thanks again guys....matto

Hey matto im curious where did you buy your engine, the same stuff happend to me i have a 99 Dx HB and i ordered an OBD 2 engine from japan star motors well they sent me an OBD1 motor come to find out and want me to pay the shipping both ways to get an OBD2 to my door. i told em to eat it. Nonetheless im having an issue with bypassing the cam and crank angle sensor mine will start but it wont stay running. 99DX HB, p75 ECU

Vtec oil pressure switch

The JDM B16 doesn't use an oil pressure switch on the solenoid housing but there is a place for it. Just drill a small hole in the plug , tap the larger hole and screw in a new pressure switch. Had to do it for my JDM B16 swap, in addition to a bunch of other shit I still have yet to do in order to comply with California emission standards.
