I've got a guy wanting to run agains my wrx in an S10 with a 350 in it. Whats the potential of a truck with a motor like that? I know you can probably get stupid fast with them...I've never seen the truck and the guy won't tell me anything about it. Ever see a setup with something like that in it?

depends on the 350.

LS1/LS6

You'll probably get owned.

You will have a traction advantage over him, but if he can hook you might get worked. It also depends on the motor like was stated earlier an LS1/LS6 has the ability to work you over.

its gonna be a chev 350 probaby with a mild cam if not stock, headears, a carb, and a filter and he will prob beat the piss outa you after he gains traction

my buddies bpu 4 tt supra got owned by a big block s10

i got the vid of it somewhere around here

You will get owned. Especially in your honda. Expect it to put out at least 300 hp and weigh no more than your wrx. More than likely its a 2 wheel drive so it will probablly weigh less.

My roomate has a 91 s-10 blazer that we were going to throw a 350 in but he decided to build and turbo the 4.3 litre. It will be MUCH faster than any 350 could. Super Typhoon anyone? :D

Does anyone know how much it would cost to put a 350 into an s10? Just like all the parts to do the swap not including the engine? I want to rock one.

The 350 is like the B16 of hondas, a million and a half parts and ways to make it faster. Chances are it will be a really really close race. And if your cars into the 13s i would say go for it.

again, depends on which motor you choose and where you get it from. I don't feel like going to rummage through my CHP magazines right now.

There's a ton of Chevy motors that are 346-350 CI's..

The 93-96 LT1, LT4, 97-04 (I'm including C5 engines in this one, yes I know the Camaro was 98-02) LS1, 01-04 Z06 LS6, 05+ C6 LS2 and the (probably) soon to come out LS7 C6 Z06 motor.

The LT1 will be the cheapest, but makes less power. You can also get aftermarket built 350s that can range anywhere from 350-600 hp on pump gas.

Fuck it then...I'm only able to put out a 12.4 in the subaru right now...well close to it anyway....its done lower, but not with me driving and the clutch is starting to slip. He wanted to run me for $500 but I didn't trust the guy trying to get me to race him. I don't like street racing anyway.

The nice thing is the motor mounts for the 350 are in the same location for the V6 or any V8 (305,307,350,400)

You can probaly find a( 1960-1968) 350 Long Block for $200.
the earlier years are more desireable as they had a higher nickle content and came with 4-bolt mains. a much stronger block to start out with

Rebuild it with
10.5:1 Pistons
Cam w/ this profile .555intake , .555 exhaust
1.6:1 Roller Rockers
New Timing Chain
2.02 (fueley heads)
7/8" Large Tube Headers, with x-over pipe
High Volume, High Pressure Oil Pump.
Rebuild the 650 Holley Carbs
and get a vicktory Jr. 4+4 intake
and an MSD 6AL Ignition

this can be done for under $2000 if you do alot of the work yourself.
about 375HP, 400+ ft-lbs torque

Rebuild TH350 tranny with shift kit, hardened sprag and intermediate gears, hardened pump stator, and a master rebuild kit w/ a 3000rpm stall converter ($800)

get a set of lakewood traction bars, and a 10bolt posi rear end.

and pull low 13's all day

--how do I know because I built a very similar motor for an old camaro--

Right, I was, because anything pre LT1 really wasn't worthy of being mentioned.

15 second IROC Z 350s weren't fast. :p

not the motors intakes
the old 4 bolt main blocks are worth there weight in gold
intake carb and headers. 450 and you have a hellish motor

Depends on how the 350 was built. If it was truely built to be used as a truck it will have a low lift longer duration cam profile, which is really nice for producing gobs of torque, it'll redline at like 5000RPM. you'd most likley walk all over it.

If it was built for racing, well it's most likely got a high lift mild deration cam with a tunnel ram or some other single plane intake. and will make gobs of HP from the 3000-6000rpm range. and will produce well over 375hp and will most likely give you a hell of a run.

a 350 is not a big block
[post=420936]Quoted post[/post]

true , but he said big block S10, which means it's either got a 400BB, or a 454 in it.
and I believe they made a 454SS S10 for a few years stock from the factory
