interesting video posted there on finding ozones in other atmospheres would be an indicator of life

oxygen is a highly reactive element, so unless there is something to replenish the oxygen in the atmosphere, all of it would quickly disappear into oxides
chyro = cryogenic aka, deep freeze
interesting that they refer to 300,000 years as 3000 life times
its more like 15,000 generations if you count a new generation every 20 years
and i'm guessing if you were on a spaceship with nothing else to do, there would be a lot of fucking going on, so it would probably be only 18 years between generations, IF that long

The problem is greed. In order to actually get to any of these surrogate planets we would need a drastic surge forward in technology, which will not happen because it isn't profitable. The power-player suits don't care that earth is near death, because they either won't be around to see the collapse or are wealthy enough that they won't have to care about it.
If we as a species were to develop technology that makes space travel easy and affordable, what else could we do? cold fusion? energy to matter conversion? The problem with moving past fossil fuels is that it would put affordable energy in the hands of the masses and shatter big oil's record profit honeypot. Money = control = power = greed

Harvesting other energy sources CAN be HIGHLY profitable. the sun/wind etc have been here forever, but still no one is profiting off it and the average human can't do anything with it on their own. The money is in the technology of the harvest, rather than the fruits or the harvest.

Nothing will ever move forward as long as Big Oil is in control. They would rather sell a consumable product rather than something they will only profit from when a device sells.
