88 Civic HB

So I test drove an 88 Civic DX today and on the shift knob there was the usual 1st-5th gears but there was also this marking that said SL to the left of first gear.
Is this for say..low range or something? I asked the guy what it was for but it was his daughters car and he never drove it. BTW it looked like a factory Honda knob.
Any ideas?

88-91 civics have the standard 1-5 gears nothing else. The sl might be the maker of the shift knob or something like that.
