Someone said it's the piston rings, someone else said it's the oil rings. Is there a difference between these two things or are they the same thing with different names? And also how much approx. do you think it would cost to replace them?

    Thanks much.

there is a compression ring and a oil ring on the piston, you might as well replace both if thats what the problem is

that will depend on who does it but it want be to cheap, because you have to take the motor all the way apart,it would prolly be cheaper just to buy a good used jdm motor

lol no it has nothing to do with the head the pistons are inside the block and the rings are around the piston

yea perty much,,,but if you are on a budget you can get a sohc jdm d15b vtec for about 500 bucks, that will drop right in and wire right up to everything you already have

alright that sounds good bro, thanks a lot!!!! for your help. I'm gonna do some thinkin on this for a few days. I can buy the sohc vtec right now an keep this car running, this summer I'm buying a realllllly nice 240 SX or a k20 Civic, an this was going to be like my project but I need it to run for a few more months. So if i got the cheaper one an used it for a while then sold it an did whatever to it, that'd probably work eh???
