93 si hatch problems

been having a problem starting my 93 civic si hatchback. the starter will fire but the engine will not start. this would happen until the battery dies... I found that if I pump the gas a while before starting it will turn on. Once it's on it runs great. Never had any problems with it turning off or anything like that. Any ideas? Thanks!

sounds weird. does your starter feel like it is cranking as hard as it was before you were having the problem?

Yeah it cranks hard when the battery has power. I had to jump it so many times the battery won't hold a charge. No ideas...
