95 Honda Civic/GSR/lsVtec

I have Gsr ls/vtec motor and everytime i start it up it purges than it idles up and down dont know wtf the problem is please help trying to save so cheapest possible ways please. I also still have the stock ecu from and ex in my car right now i dont know if that could be it either. I also smell gas.

Hi

Most of the time this is a vacuum leak problem. Try covering the throttle body with your hand or something, the engine should die. If the engine keeps running it is definately a vacuum leak. Mine was the throttle body gasket. Could be intake manifold gasket or a vacuum hose. Try adjusting screw on throttle body, mine had to be turned almost all the way in. There also a good article on this site for other things to check. It is a common problem. Good luck.
