Hello, my brother in law damaged his engine when he went threw a large puddle of water in the recent rain storm.

I was going to help him replace the engine. He wants to borrow money to get it replaced, but I think we can same some money on labor by doing it ourselves. I have swapped engines before on a 91 Accord, I figure it cant be much different.
So :

1. What engine would be a direct replacement, just the d16y8?

2. Where is a good place in Southern California to purchase a rebuilt engine?

3. Is there a place you guys trust to rebuilt his current engine?

where are the best places to search for these engines? We are trying to spend around $1000 for the swap.

any d-series (excluding the a1's) will drop right in and use the existing mounts, and honestly for the easiest swap possible find another d16y8, there are plenty of them out there and very easy to find

Thanks for the replies I send attarco an email they dont have the motor in stock. From doing a craiglist search is looks like a lot of people sell the JDM d15. Would any of the jdm engines be a direct swap from the d16y8? with no wiring or ecu mods?
