97 Accord manual transmission will not go into reverse.

I just bought and installed a rebuilt manual transmission for my 97 Accord. It will not shift into reverse at all. It will shift into all of the other 5 gears with no problem. What is causing this? Can this be repaired without removing the transmisssion again?

Sounds like something inside the trans.

are you sure the shift linkage is correct? if so, yeah, its probably gotta be dropped and teared open

It's the same shift linkage that was used with the previous tranny before this one.

If its not the shift linkage and all sensors are hooked up, next step is to take the trans out.

Is the shifter going into the reverse spot? or is it fighting you? I'm leaning toward a bad trans / they rebuilt it wrong, hope it came with a warrenty
