99gsr in 92 dx

If you put a obd2 gsr in your obd1 car how does this work? is it possible to use the obd2 engine harness and bolt it up to the obd1 dx cabin harness and run obd1 computer? ive been talking to someone about it and im 99% sure this cannot happen. isnt obd2 harness all 1 piece?
