a little problem with the tranny

i test drove a car i wanted to buy today. the owner told me that the clutch is rather new but that the new throwout bearing that it came with was pretty crappy and therefore was making some weird noises. i drove the car and it would grind gears sometimes, and sometimes you wouldnt hear a thing. when the clutch is disengaged and the car is rollling it makes a whining noise. if i put the car into first and then into neutral then 2nd instead of straight to 2nd the car wouldnt grind. is this a problem with the throwout bearing or something else? TIA

sounds like the throw out bearing, but there is no way to be for sure until you get in there

it sounds like throw out bearind and the syncranizers are all skrewed up in it the winning is age mine does it with 250k miles lol nothing you can do to get ride of that but rebild it but not garanteed to get ride of whining
