Do cars, even *gasp* hondas suffer a shorter lifespan thanks to the perpetual/extreme cold?
 
Nah, we winterize all our vehicles and plug em in when it gets like -10F. Full winterize up here is block heater, oil pan heater, trans pan heater, battery heater, block of the grill, and put a remote start on. If you constantly cold start ur engine, yes it won't last as long. I blew up my mazda 323 (dont laugh it was my first car) at -30F cuz i was at a party and couldn't plug it in. Oil gets so thick it won't circulate properly, then smokes cam bearings. Ahh memories...
 
:D , that hasnt happened to me yet, and hopefully never will. but yeah the cold and ice does take a toll on vehicles. for example last winter i saw a honda civic with half of the body kit ripped off, but hey thats alaska for ya.
