I'm new to front end alignments.

My dad and I started to align the toe on my CRX but didn't get close enough.

We rotated the outer tie rods and heald the inner tie rods in place. We didn't want to start spinning them because we don't have a clue of what could happen.

We got it close but not close enough, can we spin the inner tie rods to dial it in?

I know all of you are going to say "take it to a shop".

Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes if the shop isn't busy. I can do mine on the rack in about 15.

Turning the inner tie rods will not hurt anything. They are a ball-in-socket design that is intended to rotate. Assuming ofcourse that you arent unscrewing the tie rod from the rack. Spinning the inner will also not affect your toe adjustment at all.

And like everyone else said, align it on a rack with an alignment machine. Youll never get it right any other way

when performing an alignment make sure that the rear tires are as close to straight as possible. they determine how straight your car drives. and rotating the inner tie rod end is how your supposed to adjust the front toe. removing the outer tie rod end is not necessary and causes premature wear on it.

    Cool...

Well it got aligned today and what a difference! I bought the car last summer, parked it, lowered it, it drove like crap so I never knew how it should be then got it aligned. No more slack, no more leaning to the right and no more fighting against the wheel. I'm stoked! Handling is much better now too, lol.

Sorry, should have clarified, i thought he was saying rotating the tie rod back and forth when the jam nut was still tight. I meant that just rotating the assembly back and forth wont change your alignment angles... yes, once the jam nut is loose, turning the inner is what changes the toe angle.
