alpine SWX-1242D question

does the alpine SWX-1242D suck? i'm planning on purchasing these babies, but i read in a forum before (can't remmeber where) but i read that they blew up in the quickness. has anyone use them? i just want to know if they are reliable. thanks in advance. happy holidays.

I don't know which product you are speaking of, but I have had 203984 Alpine products. I LOVED EVERY ONE. I hate the fact that they are getting more and more expensive.

They have the cleanest most underrated wattage sound that I have ever heard(for the price). I'm also a big KLIPSCH fan, but they are out of my price range.

I built a custom ported box to Alpine's specs for my buddy's 92 hatch. They got fairly loud off of 2 mtx 81000D's. So far, no problems. They sound really nice and get low. But, he had 2 of the type r's previously, and to be honest with you, I like the r's better.
