ok here it is i am pulling out a d16 from a 97 civic lx got it out finally and i am preparing the b16 to go in and i got to the alternator and the d series one doesn't fit the only reason why i tried it is because the b series has a totally different plug on it. do i need to buy a b series alternator from a 99 si kind of lost on this and the d series is off by like a half inch is there a way for me to get that d series on the b series please let me know thanks :worthy:

you need to use the b-series one, cut/paste the plug from the obd1 harness onto it, or rig your own.
no need to buy another one if you have one already.... its just a different plug style, but the wires are the same. just cut/solder on the b16 plug. if you don't have the b16 harness, you're fucked... go to a junkyard and score one, cuz you're going to have to do the same thing for the injectors, distributor, and possibly a couple others
