Can an OBD1 D-Series alternator be used on an OBD1 B-Series motor?

they are definatly shaped different
i ran into this when i did my swap
 
I haven't even looked at my d-series alternator yet, but it seems like mines going out on the b18 so i figured i'd check. oh well have to go to the junkyard this weekend i guess.

Your talking about the starter not the alternator.

I guess I just need to go look at the d-series alternator and see if i can make it work.
 
you completely missed my post or something.

I did it....it works fine. you do HAVE to shave some material off though. It's a simple 2 second thing if you have a dremel or die grinder.

As long as it's the same obd then you should be fine.
 
No I saw it my post just didn't really say what I was meaning. I mean't to say I would look at it and see what I had to do to make it work. Not if i could make it work.
 
Another thing just popped in my head. Do you need a different belt with this setup?
