thanks for the braking tips. Im sure that will help, I have no doubts about the power to weight or traction in a straight line, just was a bit concerned about gettin it to stick in the corner but it sounds like that will help. I got the decals done last night a few more touches and I'll get the final product pics up. Thanks for all the support.:D

well here it is done and ready for the races...weighed it today full of fuel and ready to race....1877lbs. was shooting for 1800lbs even but this is close enough.

...as you probably saw in the background...that is my derby crx it was a 89, d15 dpi with a bad set of rings, and a complete bondo rear quarter cost $50....derbying a crx ..priceless. It will be finished off this fathers day derby in Redmond Oregon, if anyone local wants to come cheer it on...lol.

...yeah it still runs, but smokes like a factory. its been in 1 demo derby, and 3 bump to pass races against cars like cadillacs, and lincolns. Notice the driver door...I was t-boned by a cadillac in the last bump to pass race.

that is beyond awesome

i damn sure hope there is going to be some videos coming out of all this :D

The ones around here are rusted to shit. If it doesnt have some bark stuck in it somewhere or som scratches its no trail rig.

a setup tip...run the left front tire almost flat..run slightly more in the left rear, run the most in the right rear and the right front should only be a little more in the right front..
so say..

This thing is sweeeet. I've been watching Mad House on the History Channel, plus this, equals I want to build a modified. But I don't think there are any dirt tracks, or even regular tracks, around here.

thanks for the air pressure hints, that'll give me start point. we almost got the eg finished up today, a little sheet metal work and it'll be ready. and the other hatch...well turns out it had a bit of a warped crank that ate the bearings at start up. crank is now back from the machine shop, and will be re-assembled tomorrow. I can only suggest if you have aa dirt track near by...go for it. the rush is awesome, nothing like running side by side at 60+mph with 12 cars on a 1/4mile dirt track....

poor crx what have they done to you lol jk every1 has there own taste

lol we run a 3/8th mile paved track with about 40 of the 4 cylinders..then the other class runs probably about 30 8cylinders..montecarlos,old school stuff like that..its a huge rush..
we had a modified..i would recommend it if you have cash to spend..cuz those cars cost alot..
tires alone are well over $500 per set..then you need race fuel..spares all that..it gets up there in money..madhouse makes it looks cheap and easy..but i do love that show

500 a set that is pretty cheap for the size of the tires im not going to tell you what i pay for 225/40r15 hoosier a6s.

I would love to run mods too, our track runs them just not as often as the minis, plus they are a huge cost to run and maintain. I ran a 4cyl enduro in washington with a gt escort on a 3/8 paved track started 75 cars and 300 laps. I finished 10th after t-boneing a vw on lap30 when he spun in front of me in turn4. that was a rush on asphalt alot faster speeds75-80 on the straights.:D Those hoosiers on the crx are from hoosier tires direct, and they were on clearance for $55 a tire plus free shipping....hell of a deal.

madhouse makes it looks cheap and easy..but i do love that show
I don't think it makes it look cheap and easy. I think it makes it look cheaper, if you have some serious fabrication skills, but still not cheap. They do quite a bit of "make it work", but those cars are still seriously expensive.
