...the cheaper brands such as Boss, Pyle, Power Acoustik?

I'm looking for a double din dvd player. I don't need anything fancy as i'm not looking for that bling factor or trying to win competitions. I just need it to do it's job. As long as it plays dvd's and cd's/mp3's consistently, i'm fine with it.

I car pool and got kids. Everyone needs some sort of entertainment lol, especially my kids lol.

Any other brand suggestions? I've seen the brands i've listed above for damn cheap. Around $200 or so.

jensen is pretty good. Pyle is what it is...Pyle of S*&t.

dont expect to last very long though, especially if its the flip out.

i've seen alot of those being used lately. They are good enough quality to use it for what you want, basic stuff. With motor and other moving parts in there being made fairly cheap. They dont last too long. By that i mean past 2 years or so. Obviously it's all on the individual but thats just what i have seen a my buddie's shop.

they come in because the motor broke and spend 150 or 200 more than than the jensen to get a high quality one. Thats why i just waitied to have the money. better safe than sorry.

Jensen would be my #1 choice for what you want to use it for.

boss pyle and power acoustic are all garbage, they break almost immediatly after installing them. they can usually be found at those sale of the century events and well you get what ya pay for, i see it all as thats what i do all day everyday, now with that said if ya want a double din look intop the kenwood or pioneer units that they have. the lower model ones have a ton of good features and can probably be had for not much more than the prices of that garbage you listed above

clarion isnt that bad its a nice unit but they do have issues with buttons sticking or not clicking all the way and most clarions look very cheap like they dont have the nice appeal of a stronger unit such as the eclipse or other top models but im trying to help u out

I'll take a clarion over an eclipse any day. Eclpse decks such as ALL CD5100 below and above models has a recall/problem with the face sticking outward and not wanting to eject the cd. They also dont have a pause button, They also have EXTREMELY slow volume speed with remote. (even with knob its annoying). The new ones look like they came from the freaking 90's !

you cant say they all suck because if you would have read the first post. He doesnt need it for all the flash, looks, hookups or anything like that. He just needs it to work.

Turboimage's Jensen is a fine example of how you can get a cheap dvd flip out at a cheap price and use it for what it is.

Not bashing or anything but i want to clear up that even the expensive models can be crap. Either that or cost more than what you really need it for.

get you a jensen if you want a new one. You should be able to find a good pioneer used for the same price though. good luck!

    I love my 4100 dvd :)

Crap crap crap. Jensen is crap. Clarion's low end stuff is crap. They all lack meaningful quality control standards. You might get lucky with Jensen or Clarion and get one w/out problems. But even then, you'll hate the interface etc.

In my time as a car audio installer, I was constantly replacing these models. Many Jensens are bad right out of the box. Same thing with low end Sony's, especially Walmart, Costco versions which come out of a different plant. With car audio, you get what you pay for.

I promise I'm not just being stuck up like so many car audio people. I never advocate the high end stuff either. It's not worth it. I prefer the mid range stuff.

Get a used or open-box name brand.

Just got back. I ended up getting a Performance Technique ICBM-9710. I Googled the part number and it's no where to be found lol. As long as it works though, I don't care lol. It's a single din unit but it has a detachable 7 inch touchscreen. It's pretty sick. With the screen attached it looks like a double din. I paid $200 out the door with the dash kit and wire harness adapter. I also got a 1 year warranty so i'm happy :)

I got tint installed. $100 for 5% in the rear and 20% up front

Also got a sick pager alarm for $125 installed :)

So i'm happy with what I got for $425 today :D
