I've been out of the computer game for a long time now. How compatible are macs with windows these days? Can you just share files, or will they run any programs with each other?

programs no, theres usually a mac version.
files- sure. most file formats ahve a generic player for every os now-a-days

OS-X tiger has the capability to run a multitude of windows software...

I made this huge post on this thread yesterday, What happened to it ?!

OSX Jaguar and Tiger are very happy with TCP/IP. You'll need to manually add the machine to the domain (Create the domain account) and you'll be able to consistently find it in the Net'Hood.

As far as programs, sorry charlie. On a lighter note, MS Office 2001 and 2003 works better on the Mac than on the PC.

Also, I do believe that almost every major software now (Including games) are Mac friendly, or found in Mac Friendly formats.

People need to just let the mac die. Its been slow and agonizing.. Just pull the plug.

They need to become a specialist media computer company for special effects, movie editing, etc.. That is the only trump card that mac has over the PC. I say take it off of the market, Modify it a bit, and sell it to big movie companies for like $100k each. Less work for them. They can still make all their money from I Pods.. like they are doing now.

Have you ever had any viruses? Cuz in the 4 years I have had my Mac I haven't. Yeah they are good for Special Efx programs and Music programs but they are good for more than just that. Just my .02

yep. if i wasnt so used to my PC i would definately upgrade my G3 powerbook to a G5 powerbook. that stainless looking thing with ambient lighting is so hot.

never had that font issue, though

if they weren't so expensive, i'd rock a mac.

they are built on linux... way better than this windows shit...

still waiting on photoshop for linux for pc. that's the onlything holding me back (and please don't tell me i can emulate it...)
