You could hand-carry, but only up to like 35 lbs. Check with the airline you decide with, they've all got different carry-on weight regulations IIRC.

you don't have to drink to have a good time. i rarely drink more than a beer at these events.

I'm almost 27 and have never been drunk. Never have more then 2 drinks, and rarely do that. I've been to 2 of his meets and didn't have a drink at either.
