Yeah, but they probably won't change the body lines significantly enough to un-awkward it.

TDI + 6spd + simple mods = 50mpg 12 second daily driver with all creature comforts.

    Sounds awesome.

theres no way Americans would be allowed to have such a great car.

it would either need to cost $100k or break down every 17 miles. ^_^

Its an audi.... itll probably realistically be sold around mini territory prices.

Oh, and fully expect it get raped quick by the tdi community.

Just to give an idea to you guys... there was a TDI jetta a few issues ago in Diesel Power, that made 300whp and 500+lbft and the guy rolled around getting reliably 38-40mpg.

    Diesel... its truly amazing shit.

The Govt pushes it because people don't/won't educate themselves past 1980s diesel mentality. If they would, Hybrids would have much less of a market.

Kinda meh. I wouldn't look twice if it passed me on the street. Might be a decent car to own, though.

I'd take a 1982 Diesel rabbit over any type of hybrid offered today... or possibly ever.

1500lbs..... 150hp is a injector and turbo upgrade away...... can't argue with 3 compression rings and forged internals to hit 22.5:1 compression and 50-75lbs of boost from a T3/T4.

All the while, getting 40-45mpg all day, every day....

Sadly.... its the population, not the government keeping diesels out of america. We have known as a country since the 70s that diesel is the answer for all power production needs, they just didn't figure out how to clean it up and quiet it down until VW made reliable 1.6 turbo models in the 80s. Since then you can find a diesel in the BIG three's trucks and a steady onslaught of diesel cars that are NEVER talked about.

the amount of emissions equipment required for a diesel vehicle these days makes it tough to be profitable for automakers
