Yay for DOHC VTEC ^_^
I got together with a friend and I am going to be planning a swap into my car soon. Only thing is that my car (91' Honda Civic Sedan- DX), came with an automatic transmission and I pretty much want to leave it as is.

From a site, I got the info that these will pretty much bolt on:

*1988-’91 Civic EX or Si 1.6 liter SOHC (d16a6)
*1988-’91 CRX EX or Si 1.6 liter SOHC (d16a6)
*1988-’91 JDM Civic or CRX 1.6 liter DOHC (zc)

Does anyone know if any of these engines came with an automatic tranny? I have heard of the conversion to manual, but I would prefer to leave the car as is.

shouldn't make a difference, all honda automatic trannies suck so just use the dx one, if using the d series it should bolt right up, if you get an engine from an manual car, you have to replace the flywheel with your old (or new) flexplate.

I am pretty sure they all came with an auto tranny. But you can always use your DX torque converter, and tranny. As they are all pretty much D series motors, I believe that even the ZC is extremely similar to the D16a6.
