ok my friend has a 1998 civic HX automatic. his tranny was bad so we got a automatic tranny off 1993 civic dx. Both motors are stock. He took it out and tried to install it but found out that it doesn't fit. Why is this, i thought all d-series are interchangable or is this his mistake of not knowing how to install it. what gives? is there anyway i can make it work without getting another tranny.
 
Does anyone know why it doesn't fit or how i can make it fit. Why doesn't a 1993 civic dx automatic tranny fit into a 1998 civic HX automatic. anyone know why?
 
well ima not sure if it waws install properly but i'm pretty sure the guy knew what he was doing. And also i check on ebay and they sold automatic tranny that is for EX, and DX. So i think inig HX is a totally different tRanny
