Awptick's EJ9 D14Z2 Turbo Build Up

I mapped everything out, and the t25 would spool up at about 2.5k, and it'll make peak at somewhere close to 6.5k. That's perfect for what I'm looking for. I don't really want to make gobs of power, because I'm not too fond of trying to find proper rods for this engine, and the engine has 9.8 compression already.

My goals are somewhere between 125 and 150 HP/L. Anywhere in there, and both I and the girlfriend will be incredibly happy.

EDIT: I did the hp/l calculations wrong.

Well, as my stalkers all know, I've purchased the turbo kit. A greddy kit.

Unfortunately, the 15g that it comes with is too big, so I'm going to swap it out with a different, and much smaller snail. The 15g starts making boost at about the same point, but it never really gets into the inner-ring of the turbo map, where a t25 will.

I think some real-world experience is needed to test this one out. I'll throw on the kit with the 15g, and we'll see.

The only thing I'm worried about with the 15g is the lack of water-cooling. Maybe it'll become a problem, or maybe not. I'm looking for longevity on this, so this is important to me.

Look at what came in the mail!

They're kinda dark, because I'm lazy and didn't feel like getting enough light to begin with. Just shitty photography on my part.

Very nice! I'll be watching this one closely. I'm eager to see your results.

I know you bought the Greddy kit already, but IF you were using the HF manifold and adapter plate, you would have to rotate the turbo a bit to clear the AC compressor once you hooked up your pipes.

I'll be using a very small turbo on the wife's car whenever I get around to it- a TD04L-13G from a 1st gen Eclipse turbo automatic- so I should boost VERY early. I think it's smaller than the T25 that you want to use. On the plus side, I've seen a guy make over 190whp with the 13G on an HF manifold hooked up to a 1.6L non-VTEC D16A6. With your expected setup and good tuning, you could do just as well or better!

Best of luck to you!

The greddy kit came today. My dad called me and complained about how heavy the boxes were. <3

More pictures when I get home. (I'm stuck at work until 7pm tonight. 3hrs overtime FTW.)

EDIT: It came just in time too. I blew out another gasket between the two pieces of the exhaust header, and I wasn't looking forward to making another gasket. I'll lay everything out tonight, then probably next weekend I'll get everything put on. We'll see.

I'm still waiting on a few parts, but everything will be here by install-weekend. The girlie is pretty excited about it, and she'll be taking lots of pictures of/during the install.

Oh thats sum shit. Have you called em on it yet?

Nah, I look back, and it's not in the pictures. :( My loss.

I did get the vac and afr gauges hooked up. The pod is shitty, but everything fits. I'll need to get some longer screws to hold it in.

Ahh, well at least its somethin thats easy to come by.

Good deal, what kind of gauges are you using? (sorry if you already listed em)

Not really an easy piece to come by. At all. It's C-2. The curved pipe that is used in both the intercooled, and non-intercooled setup. I'm going to try to fabricate it.... We'll see.

Newb: it's a couple posts back, first page, about 3/4 down.

How hard do you think it is going to be to fabricate?

Unfortunately, I won't know until I've put everything on the car.

I'm thinking of trying to buy the whole intercooler piping kit from greddy... Maybe that'll fix the problem.

I'd work with what you've got so far. If it's just 1 piece, it can't be too terribly hard to have made.
Just go to an exhaust shop and see what they can do.

Oh, and post some pics!! haha I wanna see the kit! :)

This crap is starting to piss me off.

The pressure sender on my vac/boost gauge was destroyed. The engine apparently sucked the 'gummy' material in the pressure sender OUT of the pressure sender, causing the gauge not to read anything. Now I've got a dead boost gauge.

I contacted ProSport, and they wanted me to send the sender back, then they'd look at it and see if it was a manufacture defect, but then they decided to tell me "Just buy another sender, it's only $20. As a matter of a fact, just buy two, that way if something happens to the other one, you'll have one and won't have any down-time." Gee thanks, I'm glad they're so sure of their product that they tell me "buy two, just in case." I'm going to have to tell people to stay away from these gauges. My recomendation is to buy another brand. One with a decent warranty.

Excuse me while I pay $20+shipping to replace a gauge sender that should have been covered under warranty.

Pics are coming, of both the failed pressure sender (which I opened up, and found the problem) and the turbo kit.

Failure: ProSport Electrical Boost Vac gauge with sender

Here are pictures of the failed gauge sender. Keep in mind that I used this on the autobahn for about an hour and 15 minutes before it went out.

This is a ProSport Electrical Boost gauge. So everyone knows what to stay away from, this is what the box looks like:

Here's the rest, I'll let them tell their story.

Things I'm looking for:
D-series fuel rail (I threw my spare out by mistake)
Intercooler piping kit. I'm missing C-2 out of the greddy kit.
A decent shift-knob, like an Al/Ti Honda one.
Probably more, but I cna't think of anything right now.

I'll do trades, paypal, anything pretty much. I'm flexible. Check out my FS thread.
