This civic I am looking into getting is putting down ~400HP to the front wheels. The guy selling it says it has Acura GSR axles (if I remember correctly). Im worried they might snap, has anyone else got experience with this?

If your axle DOES snap what exactly happens thereafter....I have seen videos of cars axles snapping and their tires even falling off after this. I don't want that to happen on the highway....someone could get killed.

honda axles are pretty stong. You shouldnt have a problem unless you launch at a high rpm with slicks.
The car wont move after it breaks. THe only time you should worry about an axle breaking is when you have a welded diff otherwise dont worry about it. You should be ok.

400WHP is enough to break a stock axle even with a stock transmission.. especially if he puts on a set of drag slicks. However, the tire will definitely not fall off if you break an axle, most likely it will just snap and you wont be able to move the car if it breaks while launching. However, if you have an LSD or a spool on the trans and it breaks while you're driving it hard (such as down a 1/4 mile at WOT) you could put it into the wall especially with a spool/welded diff. All the power will transfer to the one axle that isn't broken and push you right off the track.

as he said^^ it could snap..the wheel will not fall off..and the only problems you might encounter are the axle hitting/breaking something or the car losing control^^as he said again....if your that worried about axles snapping there is a site that sells axles in stages(ex. 1,2,3,4)

Hmm. I don't know if this will help or not but right now it has a manual boost controller and is set for daily driving at ~12psi, and for racing he turns it to ~16-18psi. I wanted to switch to the Apexi boost controller that allows you to adjust the boost through each gear and reduce tire spin. Ex... 1st gear turbo maxes out at ~8psi, 2nd gear ~10psi, 3rd ~ 12psi, 4th~ 14psi, 5th~ 16psi or something like this (to keep from tire spinning in almost every gear).

What kind of axles do most people putting down this type of power use? Could someone link me to some decent ones? Thanks guys

YOu should be allright with stock axle as long as you dont run 24" or bigger slicks. If you do, just feather the clutch on the launch and you should be ok.
Id say your tranny will fuck up before the axle does. :)
