axle spline problem

my axles don't fit my d series tranny. my tranny is 27 spline where the axles fit in. the code on the side of the tranny is L3-1700052. the L3 is from a ef or del sol according to the reference materials and it looks like its set up the same as my old tranny so i figured its probably cable and not hydro. can anybody tell me what axles to use?

the old axles were 25 spline. should i split the cases and swap the part where you shove the axles in?
