I would like to know a bit more about how the gear ratios affect the cars performance - when is better to have a higher gear ratio and when is it better to have a lower gear ratio?

How does increasing the final drive affect the individual gear ratios in a B series tranny? Does it increase or decrease the gear ratios?

Anyone has any idea what the gear ratios would be on a Y1 tranny after changing from a 4.266 to a 4.40 final drive?

mechnically the ratios stay the same, unless you mix and match those too.

A higher FD will increase acceleration.

I can't tell ya much more...

Closer gear ratio = faster acceleration, longer = slower, also more fuel efficient.
