B16a need ecu help

hey i got a 1st gen B16a obd0 its in a 91 civic DX and as we were hooking up the knock sensor the whole plastic part of the plug broke off...but we still started the car up and seemed to run fine and its not throughing any codes. So im just wondering is it safe to run the car like that? and the ECU has nothing saying what it is i now its obd0 and thats it is there a way to tell? canse ive heard of a couple diffrent ECUS running without the knock sensor. just wondering if its ok to run without it or should i just change the knock sensor out?..could someone please help me out..thanks

that is really common. the knock sensor must be made of recycled egg shells! The car will run without it but no vtec and no timing retard if it knocks or pings.

Give it a few driving trips and see if you throw a code. If you do fix the issue, if you don't then don't worry about it.
