Hi, i have a 93 del sol si with a D16Z6. The car has 154000 miles. I'd love to have more power, so here are my questions:

1- Is it better to upgrade (meaning getting stronger piston and rod) that D16Z6 and turbo it? If yes with which pistons , rod and turbo? Wich kit will you suggest?
2- Or is it better to swap the engine and get a b16a (which one will be cheaper and easy to swap since i want to do it myself?)
3-Should i keep my auto transmission or have a manual one? Wich one is better?

    Thanks for your help

If you are on the budget d16z6 turbo is a good way to go. It can be a 12 second car at the cost of a b16 swap. Motor is easiler to get and cheap. But if money is not a factor than I'll say go b16 turbo. And ditch the auto and get a manual transmission. That auto tranny won't last long if you abuse it and it probably won't hold either too.

yes. go for some eagle or crower rods, ross 9 to 1's and a t3 setup.it will hold the best with these components.
a turbonetics or edelbrock system. need more info on the power you're trying to obtain.

stay d-series as it will drop right into place with no problems.that and it will be cheaper to do d-series turbo(and more powerful)for less money.
shitcan the auto and go for a full manual swap(around 800 bucks from junkyard/sale pieces)
i'm crappy at multi-quoting so sorry if this annoys anyone.

Thank you. I'm looking for 250 hp and up. Is it something possible? I'm going to use the car as a daily car. Will the turbo set up for 250+ hp be a problem? Also i'm a little confused , are you talking about getting an other D16z6 or keeping the one that i have and upgrade it? (turbosol :"stay d-series as it will drop right into place with no problems.that and it will be cheaper to do d-series turbo(and more powerful)for less money").. Thanks again.

I use to buy stuffs on ebay but sometimes you're getting screwed. I was wondering if anyone has some infos (links?) on where to get those pistons , rod, turbo kit and be sure that you're getting good parts. Is it possible to keep a turbo and use it when it's raining or snowing or should you just wait for the summer (water, snow, mud in intercooler/air intake)? Thanks again.

yes. it is the best route to go if you're planning 250 to 300 in my opinion.
no it won't. just get a little stiffer clutch and you will love the car as a DD.
keep yours and upgrade it. as far as the links i'll have to go look for them for ya.

this is where to get the edelbrock turbo.
    Ross Pistons
    get the pistons here.
    Eagle Specialty Products, Inc.
go here for the best deal. crower is a little more expensive, that and these come with ARP rod bolts. ARP is the best place for head studs too. you might want to get some.here is the lnk:
ARP | The Official Website of Automotive Racing Products
crower is another place for some really good cams if you want. they also have connecting rods:
    Crower Cams & Equipment
as far as running it in the rain and the other elements, you'll need to get a filter kit for the turbo. this is HIGHLY recomended!!!if you get something caught in the turbo it will fuck it over. you can run them all year round though, to answer your question. some e-bay stuff is alright but check with us before you go and purchase it. we will tell you if it is decent or not. you can always ask me via e-mail too man...i'll be happy to answer your questions.

My first step will be building the engine before moving to turbo. So i'll try to get those forged pistons and rods and let you know. Thanks again.

you would be way happier with a built turbo d than an NA b16.

IMO I hate the hype b16's get. they are only fast on boost. Go D and throw 10 lbs at it. you'll love it. plus you will still have cash in your wallet . It will last as long as you get a good tune.

hey...welcome to hondaswap man! word on the d series...they are awesome engines aren't they? long live the sohc!!!!! but good tuning is crucial... i did a good tune and got 45 more ponies out of the base tuning i originally did with an SAFC...they suck. get the ecu chipped. while you're at it take the speed governor out. phearable.net is a great place to send the ecu off to to be chipped. they are quick.

If youre on a budget keep tha D16. Id go with tha B16 kuz its more powerful. Then upgrade tha internals, you know, pistons, cams, and what not then slap on a turbo. Maybe a T3?
