B16B Rod Length?????

ok then so lets use the assumption that the b16b engine has the same piston to deck height as a b18c type r engine (although i personally feel it is slightly more in the hole due to the large dome of the piston). imagine the piston at TDC. at this point the rod and crank should be in a perfect straight line up and down 180 degrees. now add the stroke and rod length of the itr engine.

87.2mm + 134.9mm = 225.1mm

now to get to that same point using the CTR crank

225.1 = 77mm + Rod(b16b)
Rod(b16b) = 225.1 - 77
= 148.1mm

now this isnt exact, cause im sure theres other factors, and if you are only using this for a class i think this is as best an answer your gonna get without actually measuring them. 148.1mm

Endyn has measured the compression height of the CTR piston to be 1.210 inches, where most other B series pistons are 1.180 inches. There's a ton of debate about it on Honda-Tech... so depending on how deep in the hole the CTR pistons are in the B16B, your rod length will vary by about .03 inches. You should be able to calculate piston-to-deck height of the B16B by using the dome volume, stroke and combustion chamber size- then go from there with the 1.210 compression height to find the length of the rods.
