I just bought a b18b engine & a automatic gsr transmission...
im not sure which ecu to use with this engine and transmission.
Would I use the gsr p72 ecu, or would that not work because its
made for vtec motors? Also if it wouldnt work because of the vtec
issue, could i just have it rewired? Last question is, does it
matter which model of p72 ecu it is? I know it has to be obd 1,
but is there auto version of the p72 and a manual version of the p72?
Im kinda a newb to engine/transmission shit, any advice on this
matter would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

p72 on an ls motor will cause a couplea problems:
knock sensor
secondaries
vtec solenoid/vtec pressure

you won't be able to rev over 6500. i dont know why, thats just what happens when you put a p72 ecu in an ls.

get the ecu that was on the motor originally.

There is an automatic tranmission for a "GSR" in Japan (in JDM, GSR = SIR-G). As for ECU you should use a B18B ECU (an LS automatic ECU should do, I think).
