I am wondering about some OBD issues for a head swap. I have a 1990 civic hatch and I'm about to do a swap. I am about to purchase a B20 when a friend brought up a good point, OBD2. If I run an OBD0 b16a head from the jdm crx, will it work in conjunction with the B20 bottomend, as far as the OBD? I am trying to avoid as much elec. problems as I can. Also, will the B trans fron the Jdm crx work with the B20? I fugured B's a B right?

You shouldnt have any obd problems on the block.Seeing as the head is obd0 you'll be fine on wiring, just make sure you buy the parts for the vtec conversion. Also your tranny will work too.

What would be the best place to buy the vtec oil kit? I have heard of people getting the "golden eagle" kit. Is that all the lines and fittings or what? Is that the brand?

I NEED HELP!! i know more about muscle cars, but i like imports as well, i like to go fast i guess. so i bought a 89 civic 3door and i have a few engines, heads, and options to choose from, im thinking of going with a b18a1 from an ls i have the head intake, and everything needed except for lower half. or b16z vtec also need lower half. i have tranny for ls b18a1 . what would be the better combo. also have a virgin block from factory for a dohc 1.6L

Theres no such thing as a b16z.Is the dohc 1.6 block a "zc" or a b-series motor? If its the "zc" your still going to need a b-series block to put one of your heads on.Your tranny will bolt on to any b-series block.

that was a typo, the b16z and ls are seperate blocks, i have a broken ls block but good top end, and a good top end 1.6 vtec, and a virgin block cut from factory in the wrapper for a dohc 1.6
