hi..

im going to swap my 4th gen civic 4 doors with b20 series,
but im cant find b20a complete with engine, autotrans, wiring, ecu, ect.
can i use b20b ecu+wiring to plug in to b20a auto engine ?

i choose b20 because it has big torque, than b16 and im going to choose for automatic tranny..

in junkyard only available :
- b20b : engine, ecu, wiring, and no transmision
- b20a : engine, auto trans, no ecu, no wiring

i cannot find any b20a wiring+ecu everywhere in town at this time
only available B20B's ecu and wiring.
will it fit normally? (a little remap its ok if needed.)

which is better, going to take b20a engine and trans, with b20b's ecu and wiring,
or just take B20B engine, ecu, wiring, and b20a trans ?

thx before

the b20a and b21's are 'bastard b-series' as they call them. they are pretty much not even a b-series as we all know them and are not compatible with much.

take the b20b

ok, b20b then,
how about gearbox?
i only have b20a gearbox, and the b20b doesnt came with gearbox.
can i use b20a gearbox into b20b ?

.

oh
and how to 'see' between b20b (1st gen) with b20b/z (2nd gen) by looking at it?
all i know is 2nd gen use PHK pistons, and 1st gen use P3F pistons.
is there any other methods without taking off the head?

.

You can use a B16 or B18 (LS or GSR) tranny on the B20B. The B20B and the B20A do NOT have parts that are interchangeable.

George777, Please PM me back on these trans that work together.
I wanted to do a ls swap in a 90 civic 4dr just to have a better/quicker little car but there is a local here that has a B20B for cheap that I may want to change to..

Sorry, I don't mean to jump in but hey, it's almost the same set up.
