Has this compo been tried?
1990-91 Prelude si Block
Vtec B16 head

What is the suggestion of what combo is the best for reliable power for a race car for 12 hour endurance racing?
We use a 1994 Integra RS motor and it works great but we need the vtec power.
Help please! <_<

Anytime you hybrid a head and block, you RISK a loss of reliability, unless properly rebuilt. If you are really interested in this, you can use that B16 head right on your RS (more commonly called the LS). If you want the 2L of displacement, the way to go is to use the B20B or Z of the CRV. But if you have the money to run cars at enduros, you should probably be looking at GSR engines or Type R engines.

these guys did a vtec conversion on a lude:

but it did not make the power they wanted to, it made around the power of a b16. and for an indurance race the ITR motor is probably the best. these guys do indurace races and know there shit check them out:

ITR is your best bet for endurance, totally stock, so its reliable as can be, and has the power to back it up. which enduro are you going to be running?

we did 322 laps or 644 miles. Due to rain and a stop for lighting.
last year we did 432 or 864 miles.

we broke left front studs which made us miss about 35 minutes.

we tested a hatchback civic with a GSR motor which did great. 361 laps and the ECU got wet. Once dried it ran great again.

We are just looking to improve the Acura. Does the block VS. vtec make more horsepower then the stock GSR? We weight about 475 more pounds then the hatchback. It weights 1900lbs and our weight is 2375. So we'd have to make about 20 or more horsepower to be competitive.

20 more hp huh? I am assuming since you are running endro, you are fully gutted. What cams are you running, and are you running independent throtle bodies. what compression are you running? maybe a slight port and polish to the head may help get some ponies out....
good luck man...

wait...

you have a b18b in there now??? if so, you can build an ls/tec out of it easily.

the b20a/b21a motors suck ass unfortunately. HUGE stroke, and anti-rev happy.

Yes we are gutted. We are trying to get the car to 2000 lbs. We haven't touched the motors. We are going to start soon. I am in the process of finding the best solutions for the best price rather than screwing up and paying for it. The LS/Vtec is the first thing we'll do. The second is to create a B18B with more ponies. So working the head with cams and a throttle body a good start (Maasey Racer)? How about the Del Sol's SI pistons? It helps with compression without milling the head. We'd like to replace easy parts that grab HP. We'd like to spend about $2000 on parts. Labor is free so what is the best parts for the B18B's non-Vtec?

From what I understand that old lude block will not work with the common B series heads nor blocks.
