im doing a search on doing a rust looking paint job (like on the episode of Monster Garage where Jesse James painted that split window VW Bug a rust like paint job) for my room mate to do to his Nissan 720 pickup, and i came across this link:

these guys come up with the stangest ways of doing shit...lol

that VW paint was awesome. i have been wondering how he did that for like the past week. i know that the front end was fiberglass, so thats what i don't get, that shit looked jsut like rust.

yeah that was a badass paint job. i found out that they used this stuff called "patina" to create the rust look. heres a how-to i found on doing it:

kinda sounds a lil time consuming but creates a badass effect.
i didn't ead that whole page, but patina is when metals get a colored coating over them, like how copper turns greenish blue with age. you can do it with chemicals yourself, but i'm not really sure you could do that with other materials, like the fiberglass. who knows, they probably make a paint that resembles it or something. i remember though, that Jesse was brushing some clear liquid on the hood in the show.
