Block Guard

I have heard that block guard will overheat the motor. Is this a fact? Cuz currently my motor is in the shop and i wondering if i need this.
Thanks for any info on this.

I am pretty sure that this web site says something about block gaurds and how they will make the motor run hot.

they put pins in the block. It is said to work, and the coolant is able to flow freely.
