has anyone ever tried a d16a1 block w/ a d16z6 head? does the d16a1 have more torque than the d16z6 block? or does the d16z6 sohc head give more horsepower than the dohc d16a1?

i know that the d16a1 has about 98-113 horsepower
and the d16z6 has 125hp stock

but if you put the d16a1 mixed with the d16z6 head what do you get? or vice versa?

 cool.. thanks for the info.

i'll just sell the d16a1 to someone else, and just buy another d16z6, or d16y8.. :D

Yes, and it has more support too. The main difference in the 88-91 D blocks is twice as much oiling in the cranks. You get better lubrication, so it holds up better under pressure. Plenty of people are making some high power figures with the 92-00 D blocks though, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

umm, this is a little late, but what exactly would i need too switch a d16z6, with a d16y8? can i just take out the d16z and put in the d16y with no problems, or will i run into problems?
