for some reason i thought the B20 had different sleeves. so you can bore out any B block to 84mm on stock sleeves and it will be just like the sleeves in the B20??

No. The walls on a b18 and a b20 have the same thickness, so if you bore out the ls block from 81 to 84mm, you will have walls that are 1.5mm thinner than a comparable b20 block.

Yes thank you, someone esle to back me up. The design in where each cylinder "touches" in the b20 is also a different design than a b16.

that is what i thought...

To answer your question you would need to bore the engine out 3mm (from 81mm to 84mm) to make ~1.8L. I don't think that the stock sleeves can take that much overbore.
This is what i don't get? I thought any b series block that are bored to 84 mm (CRV spec) taht would make it a 2.0 liter.

it is Bore x Stroke.
the B16 has a shorter stroke than the gsr/ls/b20. gsr even has a slightly shorter stroke than the ls/b20, but still longer than the B16's stroke.

I thought 84mm is 2.0 like the crv? I guess the stroke is different. So what is the Liter size of an actual b20 with b16 head?
[post=372690]Quoted post[/post]

uhh... 2.0L the head has no effect in the displacement of a motor. its only bore and stroke.

See above.

The cylinders in all of the b series blocks are touching. The b16 is the same, and so are all the b18 blocks, and the b17 too. all the cylinders are touching.

yes i know they all touch, there is just less material between the cylinders in a b20 making it a weak point.
