I think they should collapse the pipe like we do with land based oil well fires. Drop an explosive charge in the pipe and detonate. I suppose if that where a feasible plan it would have already been tried.
I'm just getting a kick out of watching this thing try and hold on long enough to unscrew the 5 or 6 bolts holding what was the pipe on to the blowout preventer, itll grab a hold and then get puched away by a current haha
I was thinking about that earlier... why didn't they just crimp the pipe? if the metal was thick enough to stop a diamond tipped saw, why wouldn't it hold the oil back if it was crimped off?
i dont think you just crimp a pipe that big
if it were going to crimp it would have done it when 5000 feet of line collapsed to the ocean floor on top of it
is it possible to weld something 2' wide with the force of all that oil coming out? not to mention, no human can go that deep, so it needs to be pure robots.
