We decided to get the kids bunk beds.. So I shopped around, and I found that for a decent set that isn't going to fall apart, the price is $600+ just for the frame. I didn't feel like spending that much, nor was I super impressed with the designs.. So I decided to save money, and build it myself..

I drew out a basic design and was going to build it from 2x4s. Cheap, strong, and easy. Then I added.. And added some more.. Then I scratched the whole idea and came up with this..

A pictorial of the build.. Yeah, the pics are shitty, camera is getting old.

Yeah, yeah, carpet is fucked. It will all be replaced after the kitchen remodel is done.

    looks cool...
did you zip it to the wall?

and maybe the pointed edges on the bottoms of the overhang trim pieces wasn't such a great idea...

now you jsut need to get them some 7" flat screens and they'll be all set, lol

stop being a bitch... maybe he should cover the entire damn thing in nerf padding  ... if they whack their head they will learn not to fuck around near the overhang... its good for them :)

TVs?!?!?! yeah because thats what kids need today... MORE TV

in case you didnt notice that bunk bed is a castle... get them some siege engines

what would possibly go better with a castle than a mangonel, a ballista, or a trebuchet
... scaled down for size obviously :)

eh, just a little concern for the kiddies
i spent enough time in the ER as a kid to know that if it can happen, it will

it'd be bad enough if they jump into it, but it poses a little more danger with the point
its all fun and games till your kid knocks themselves out cold
or even worse, they jam their head into it and you take em to the ER covered in blood
i was usually the bloody one, my brother was the one that knocked himself out cold a lot

    yes indeed
flipping go karts a few times
smashed my head on corners, driveways, etc
one time i set up a sweet jump for a bicycle and went to the very top of a hill, but i missed the ramp by a cunt hair and hit landscape timbers so hard i bent the front wheel, went ass over tea kettle, the bike flew up and flipped in the air and landed on my back a good second after i had ate shit and hit the ground

The skull crackers? Oh come on man, what is a castle without pointy crap to hurt yourself on?? Mrs. Phyre tested one out while painting, it got her good!! (no blood, just stumbled around mumbling profanities for a while) Actually, they clear both kid's heads, so they'd have to jump up into them. The points have been rounded off a bit, they aren't sharp by any means. There is plenty of stuff to hurt themselves on this castle, but kids are kids and they get hurt. Its ok.

I did build a "siege ladder" to get into it.. 2x4 step ladder, beat with an axe and a lawn aerator and raped with a logging chain, then burned, then stained with mahogany stain. Looks like it was used to storm 1000 castles. Came out gnarly cool. Doesn't match the castle at all, though.

Also, I am considering mounting a nerf crossbow on a turret in one of the towers.. I want to, but it looks too.. nerfy. lol
