there's no reason to make fun of old veterans...

everyone in the VFW has a hat like that, i know my grandfather does, and i respect it...

my grandfather was in japan after THE bomb was dropped... doesn't talk about it though... just complete destruction...
back in the good old days when people were actually fighting for what they believed...

Why are you always on a soapbox? Lighten up. My grandfather runs the local VFW and I can still make a crack like that without getting a sour puss on my face.

My grandfather fought over in Korea, where he was drafted, and shot in the chest by one of his own men, missing his heart by a few millimeters. He's no melodramatic about it, he doesn't talk about it. He still holds the army in high regards even though one of his dumbass mates shot him.

Do you have any clue what its like in the real world? You see one skewed view of everything. Some veterans came back shell shocked and never re-adapted to life here in the states, others came back hating the government, and yet others are proud of what they did and the country they served.

why get up in arms about something that you weren't involved in?

most people are related to a veteran or at the very least know a veteran, why get pissy when someone cracks a joke about veterans, but then you sure can dish out all the bullshit you want about the soldiers currently over in the middle east?
