I have a '91 civic DX that sees alot of abuse from my right foot. It seems to be burning oil. I filled it up about a month ago and went into Valvoline for a top off (props to Valvoline). There was only a quart left, and this is the second time this has happened. I know its not leaking or there would be like eight quarts of oil in my drive way. I'm thinking piston rings, but what else could it be? Valve seats? Do you think the engine will hold out till summer time (when I do my swap)? If not where can I get internals for my lil D series, Honda Dealer? My engine is stock (intake, exhaust) with 137K miles.

does it smoke? If so, does it smoke at startup then go away? does it smoke more at high rpms?

If it smokes & startup then goes away, probably valve sealss

If it smokes all the time, bad rings...

I know people will say don't bother, but go buy some Restore+ Ring sealer... It works good as a temporary fix... usually lasts 5-10k miles.

i had the same problem in my 02 civic and i forgot to check it one week and then i spun my bearing it was like 2 weeks after my oil change no leaks no smoke nothing it still puzzles me
